Why Choose Us?
Michael is committed to providing quality advice about the Affordable Care Act and how it affects individuals and families as they face the challenges of understanding and obtaining health insurance in this ever-changing environment. People need affordable health insurance that meets their needs and works as expected, and his promise is to do this to the best of his ability and training.
Michael became an insurance agent at the beginning of 2000, and Health Insurance quickly became his specialty. It was a time when one of the more popular insurance companies faced financial insolvency, causing serious upheaval and upset in the form of greatly increased premiums. He found a large number of individuals and families facing significant premium increases with no one to help them. It was a great opportunity to help people and to build a strong relationship with customers.
Knowing how the various insurance companies compensated agents, he saw that many people were being placed with companies because of the financial reward to the agents and not because of the best interests of their clients. This resulted in people who were locked in with their current insurer because of health conditions and had to accept well above-average premium increases. In Michael’s early years in the profession, he watched three insurers withdraw from the market leaving their customers with no option except a very expensive state high-risk pool. He recognized the great responsibility agents have to always do everything possible in the best interests of the client.
Part of his commitment to be truly helpful to those who come to him for their health insurance needs is to be as knowledgeable as possible about what people want in their healthcare, what they need in their health insurance, and to help them understand both, so their health insurance works the way they expect at the time of a claim. Michael Suhany holds the designations of Registered Health Underwriter, Registered Employee Benefits Consultant, and Chartered Healthcare Consultant from The American College in Bryn Mawr, PA. He fulfills regular continuing education requirements to maintain these designations.
Meet Michael Suhany
I have been a resident of the Warsaw and Winona Lake, Indiana area for over 30 years. The last 16 of those years has been spent as a small businessman and insurance professional helping people in those communities and the surrounding areas of Kosciusko County and Northern Indiana with their health insurance needs.
My wife, Cathy, and I have been married almost 30 years. She is a graduate of Grace College and Ball State University. She has worked in the community for the last 25 years as a School Psychologist for Warsaw Community Schools. Recently, the Indiana Association of School Psychologists named her as the 2015-2016 School Psychologist of the Year.
Cathy and I have two children who we feel blessed to have been able to raise in the Warsaw and Winona Lake communities. Both of our children attended Warsaw Community Schools and graduated from Warsaw Community High School. Our son went on to graduate from Valparaiso University and now teaches in Seoul, South Korea. He teaches at a private elementary school for Korean students who are advanced enough in their language studies to take most of their education in English. Our daughter graduated from St. Louis College of Pharmacy with her Doctor of Pharmacy degree. She is a staff pharmacist at a hospital in the St. Louis, Missouri area where she had worked for four years as a pharmacy technician during her studies.
Community service and giving back to the community is important to me. In the past, I served nine years on the board of the Kosciusko County Chapter of the American Red Cross. I have been a member of the Kiwanis Club of Warsaw, Indiana for almost 20 years. Currently, I serve as the President-Elect of the club.
I am a graduate of Calvary Bible College in Kansas City, Missouri and Grace Theological Seminary in Winona Lake, Indiana. Cathy and I very much enjoy and feel blessed by the church family we have found in Warsaw.
